Memories - 7th May

Lowest temperature was 15.9°C at 23:59, highest was 23.2°C at 09:57.

  • The LED strip lights on my painting table can be cut and connected together with this connector that comes in the package, but the connection is really flaky and my latest additions started cutting out (I'd used the leftover bit from one of the previous packages). ๐Ÿ˜ž So I decided I'd just go and get another full five metre pack and use it all without chopping it. It's come out pretty nicely and everything's noticeably brighter, though one downside is that I ran out of room along the underside of the arch. Some of it's facing directly forwards which means I'm not quite getting the full benefit of ALL of it pointing down at what I'm painting but ah well. It's fine as long as I don't look directly at it. ๐Ÿ˜›

    Munchkin!

Just had a very fun evening with kungfupolarbear and gypocalypse playing Munchkin Quest!

We loved the original Munchkin card game, but the spin-off games sucked as they added too much complexity (I don’t know if there’s more, but we got given the Vampire and the Munchkin in Space ones as presents). Starting out with Munchkin Quest was a bit slow going due to the extra rules, but once we got the hang of it it was quite fun. I ended up being a three-way win! \o/

Tomorrow we’re leaving for a hotel stay in Oberon for tomorrow night then a farmstay about an hour away from there for Sunday night, followed by UNKLE at the Sydney Opera House on Monday night (we’re having a three day weekend)!

Oh. I probably should mention that we’ve picked the ninth of June for our wedding day! ๐Ÿ˜€ I have no idea how that slipped my mind. ๐Ÿ˜›

We’re doing a quick informal thing just to get the legalities out of the way so we can apply for the next visa, and we’re going to be having an actual proper wedding at some point later down the track, once we’ve got time to plan and organise it, and when kungfupolarbear‘s mum and brother can come out.

    Squee!

    A somewhat delayed entry!

So obviously we’re back in the country now! And I’m back at work. Grumble.

The flight back was fucking horrible. There was this baby, wouldn’t have been even a year old, that was randomly shrieking at the top of its lungs. Not crying, full-on banshee wailing. There was quite a bit of turbulence too, just to add to the fun. Thankfully I’m not motion-sick.

We arrived back in Sydney on Saturday morning, breezed through customs, and ended up getting a lot done in the morning before we passed out! We opened a joint bank account, deposited kungfupolarbear‘s cheque that she brought over plus the one we got as an engagement present from her grandparents, got her a pre-paid SIM with 3, and did a bit of shopping.

Unfortunately whatever it was that kungfupolarbear was sick with in Florida came over with us. Thankfully we were able to pay $60 to go to the doctor, it took all of probably ten minutes, and we came out with a prescription for antibiotics, which themselves cost about $15.

Yesterday we went to Ikea, which was pretty much made of fail. We had Lily, who’s got a cold at the moment and I’m fairly sure she’s teething, so she was extremely grumpy towards the end. We found a few things, but none of them came in the colours we wanted, and kungfupolarbear was coughing and wheezing too.

I’m back at work now too, boo. It’s like I never left. Although I’ve only got today and tomorrow and then it’s the weekend again! kungfupolarbear is off to see the new Wolverine movie with a couple of my friends. She gets along extremely well with all of them, which is excellent.

I’ve uploaded the photos I took to Flickr. I’ve added a handful below.

    Old buildings

    Sunset over St Augustine

    Holly

    Launch Pad "A"

    Saturn V engines

    Hahah.

    Black Metal KVLTist
You are a Black Metal KVLTist. Black metal
is one of the most extreme and advanced forms
of metal (or music in general), and you’re damn
proud of the fact that you have the balls and
brains to listen to it. As a matter of fact, it
may very well be the only thing you
listen to – everything else seems to lose its
charm (though that’s not the case with
everyone). The whole concept of concerts
doesn’t excite you much – the music sounds just
as good on CD, after all, and there’s too many
morons stumbling around at shows. You’re just
not a people person; other metalheads respct
you to a degree but think you’re kind of a dick
(and often a racist fucker). You don’t really
care what they think, of course – you
    know you’re better.

Ooooh. I just remembered I have three-quarters of a case of Bundy Dry & Limes sitting in my room. ๐Ÿ˜€ Might have to have a few drinks while playing KoTOR. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hmmm. We’ve got a friend’s 21st tomorrow night, so there won’t be much doing tonight. I feel like staying up all night and playing Knights Of The Old Republic. ๐Ÿ™‚
